Neteller Prepaid Mastercard

Hi all,

I recently opened a Neteller account as I would like to use their prepaid mastercard for USD.

Has anyone else got experience using Neteller prepaid mastercard?

I have tried to top-up my account using my Discovery (FNB) credit card and out of 6 top-up attempts only one went through, the rest declined and there was no clear reason why (I have sent Discovery support an email to see what's up).

I also tried using my Virgin (ABSA) CC and it was declined as well as my Capitec Mastercard and it was declined. I see that they deal with a lot of online casinos (I think gambling is a complete waste of time) so I assume the banks are declining as they think it is for gambling purposes.

I only deposited 30 USD and my account is verified with the Mastercard in being sent to me already - so the money won't be lost and if it was at least it isnt a lot.
 
Why not just use VCPay. I've never had a problem making international payments with it and never a problem toping up the wallet. You also get an app for Android and BB

I want to use Neteller primarily because I can have an account in USD.

On a side note - VCPay, what are their fees? I can't seem to see it on their website.
I also bank with Capitec so the topup's will be delayed which is a bit of a downer.

VCPay have no fees. What you pay is what you get. You also get an SMS with each transaction. You can also do cards for any amount. The smallest amount I've done was R7 for a R6.99 online transaction.

You might have issues with exchange control with Neteller if your buying dollars

Interesting, thanks - when you topup from one of the big four, is it instant?

Thanks - bit of a pain that the big 4 take so long to receive payments. I receive payments from STD/FNB/ABSA/Nedbank to my capitec account and it's always within 6 hours of them making the payment to Capitec. Other way around it's always a full 48 hours.

Agree, the only reason why I still have my Standard Bank account and only use it for EFTs. For everything else, I use Capitec.
 
Hi - I am also looking to apply for this card, but there are no local offices just the neteller south africa domain but with no local phone number etc. I don't really want to call the UK, and if I email them I am sure I will get a canned response. If you haven't come right I will let you know how it goes.

I use my Capitec Master card to topup my Netteller card. Have they enabled your capitec card for internet transactions ?
 
Hi all, managed to get it right with my discovery and capitec and virgin money cards. It just started working despite them telling me otherwise. Used the card while i was on holiday no problem
