Netflix account sharing.

They also implicitly condoned the use of VPNs.

I don't think they mind too much what people do unless it rains on their parade.

Also worth pointing out that to enable this sharing you need to be on the higher tier plan anyway.

I thought it was difficult to use VPNs with Netflix?

Why he should have said is they used to, prior to their global rollout… then they didn’t anymore.

It's not even R199 AFAIK, it's $11.99. And what happens if someone shares the account details with their buddies and you can't login? Just pay, it's not that much...

Heard it happens to a friend who shared. His friend had Netflix on every device in his house and some times between him, his kids and wife, they hog up all the streams. Several times, he had to phone and ask them to release one stream. Even turned ugly once.

^^ this. I won't share my account to strangers let alone family. Probably also a risk they have access to your account settings.

That's so easy to resolve. Change password and click "log out all devices"

Unless they've changed the password first. Some devices require that you register on the actual device - which is a PITA if you've got a complex password.

I share my Netflix with my mother in the UK and my Hulu with my father in the US - I'm pretty safe though since they both use the same passwords for everything. :o

If they change it just recover it.
Any friend of mine who did this would no longer be a friend.

My gf doesn't even know my Netflix password and she lives in the same house.

Our netflix profile supports 2 x HD viewers.. not sure you can get more than that without somebody not being able to watch at some point.

You can login from anywhere on any account, no validation or verification/ip checks on this. Myself and my wife use one account, from various places without issue.

I wouldnt however give my account out to anybody, for obvious reasons.

Edit: I see they introduced a premium package, 4 concurrent views. Was only 2 when I applied.

Yeah, about five years ago. These days it seems to be more popular for it's UHD content rather than the four screens.

Swapped a Netflix login with my sister in exchange for a DSTV now login.
Just signed her TV in with my account without giving her the password
