Hi

Anybody else having issues with the Netflix Android app lately? In the last week it stopped working on my S2 and S5. Still working on the Roku and PC though.

Have unotelly DNS set up on the router.
Have static routes set on router for Google DNS.

The apps just don't want to open anymore. Get the "Netflix has stopped" error and it force closes. Installed newer versions and now I get the time and date error or a cannot contact the server error.

Can open the Netflix website on my phones browser but you can only stream through the app.

Anybody know of a solution? Google yielded no working solutions. I really need the app to pass the time during load shedding...

Works fine on my S5 and Galaxy Tab using version 3.7.1 - download it here
Any later version wont work they have Forced Google DNS lookup

Thanks. Not sure if that is the one I used to have, will try it out. Thought the routing table on my router will block the Google DNS lookup for the phone as well? Or does that not work on the Android app?

Uninstalled my other version and reinstalled the one you linked. Same as previous one, when I try to sign in I get this:

Depends on your set-up, if you referring to just using unotelly DNS on the router , then no the newer app circumvents this.
If you have like a custom OS on your router (ddwrt tomato etc) I think there was a guide on unotelly to bypass the force lookup using this -

did you clear data / cache in the app management section?

Didn't help. What is strange is that when I start the app the first time it takes me to the normal Netflix landing page and asks if I want to start the free trial. Nothing about not available in your country. Only when I log in does it give the error above.

Looks like its more a netflix issue rather then a dns one we assuming -I see there is a section on this error in netflix troubleshooting:

It's just weird, all my devices access Netflix through the same router. It works on the Roku and the PC, but suddenly neither of the phones (was working for the last few months). Also the old version did not give any connection error, it just force closes when I start it. Now every other version I try I cannot log in. One version logged in, but when I choose which profile to watch (users) I got an error "cannot access Netflix servers".

I also had the same issue. I ended up configuring my phone's network settings manually. I entered the IP Address, Subnet & Gateway, but when it came to the DNS settings, I entered the Unotelly DNS IP's instead of my routers IP. After that, I was able to log in to Netflix.

Thanks, I'll try this tonight. Would be a pity if I had to do this though. Are those credentials just for that specific Wifi connection?

That's right, it's not a universal setting for all wireless connections, only for your specific wi-fi setup at home/work.

Thanks a lot for this advice. That fixed the issue. For some reason it looks like the phone defaults to the google DNS server. This was on a S2 with CM and a stock S5. Configuring the settings manually fixed it.

Cheers
