Netflix dropping all BBC programs.

Short snip.
netflix removing all bbc programming awful sad
WOW, not cool, Netflix, NOT COOL AT ALL.
Fans of BBC shows are not gonna be happy with the popular streaming service because they're taking off all the programs from across the pond.
On January 31st, 2015 all the shows from Doctor Who to Luther to Torchwood to Top Gear to EVERYTHING

Can't all that stuff be watched with the BBC iPlayer? It's free, so just use that instead.

I've never used BBC I Player, so I don't know, but I'm sure you are correct.

I think it might be a bit of an inconvenience for people that only uses Netflix and I suppose you get a bit less value for your $.

I've never used iPlayer either. Always thought it was a subscription service and not free?

iPlayer is free, but you would need a UK based IP address to access it.

Edit to add

It looks like if you access UK Netflix this doesn't apply.

It has been widely reported that BBC shows, including Doctor Who, will drop off Netflix at the end of January, when the streaming service's current contract with the BBC ends.

But before you cancel all appointments, call in sick and embark on a Doctor Who/Sherlock/Call the Midwife marathon, take a moment to read on.

RadioTimes.com can confirm that Netflix UK and Ireland users WON'T be losing their much-loved BBC shows at the end of the month.

A spokesperson for the streaming service confirmed that subscribers this side of the Atlantic won't be affected by the expiring deal.

If you're watching Netflix and using Unotelly to do so you've already got everything you need.

My roku is running under a UK account and i use the iplayer so this shouldn't be a big issue. The Iplayer is subscription free

iPlayer is free, as someone has mentioned, however, it's a catch-up service more than anything else. So it generally only has the last 1 or 2 episodes of a series that aired.

Torchwood. Now there's a series I thoroughly enjoyed. Pity to hear this though.

I wanted to get netflix specifically to watch old Doctor who.

oh well. streamtvlinks.me it is for me then. never mind paying for DNS, and netflix AND hulu AND having BBC iPlayer. ill just pirate all I want.

netflix just lost a potential illegal customer and I nkow they wont care

Then get Netflix. It was mentioned in this thread already that Netflix UK have all the BBC content so what's the problem?

No, unfortunately they don't appear to have all of the same content. For one thing the US Netflix offers the classic Doctor Who whereas the UK one only seems to have the newer series.

Thanks for the info. My point was about Baxteen wanting to pirate because Netflix doesn't have BBC content even though Baxteen was never a Netflix subscriber in the first place.

True but he did say he wanted the "old Doctor who".

Not to say the old stuff isn't going to be available in other regions outside of the US/UK.

Point taken. I checked now on Hulu Plus and they have season 1 to season 7 of Doctor Who. I don't watch Doctor Who so i'm not sure if that is the stuff Baxteen wanted or not.
