Hi,

Over the last week my netflix streams mostly at 720p, before I could get UHD on my 20mbps fibre.

Have other noticed any slow downs to netflix. What is you fast.com results compared to speedtest.net (JHB)?

Looking for info as I believe the problem is with my ISP.

Also this only happens at night. Durning the day its fine.

Also been having issue quite often of late where I get the err msg "We ar having trouble playing this title at the moment, please try again later". This seems to be mostly on movies though.

Are you still using Getflix's DNS servers?

The problem happens across devices. Hoping someone else could send some fast.com tests and speedtest.net(jhb) tests.

According to Netflix, you should be getting 1080p, they recommend 25Mbps+ for 4K (UHD). I realise you might sometimes get better image quality than advertised, but in such cases count yourself lucky. I get 720p on my 4Mbps connection (when it behaves).

Internet Connection Speed Recommendations

Below are the Internet download speed recommendations per stream for playing movies and TV shows through Netflix.
•0.5 Megabits per second - Required broadband connection speed
•1.5 Megabits per second - Recommended broadband connection speed
•3.0 Megabits per second - Recommended for SD quality
•5.0 Megabits per second - Recommended for HD quality
•25 Megabits per second - Recommended for Ultra HD quality

Yes this happened to me earlier the week and I remember a previous occasion where it happened as well. Usually after a day or two it is back to normal, so I think it might be a issue from their server side... I am on 4mb ADSL line and VOX capped ISP.

80-90mbps fast.com vs 102mbps speedtest.

Through the packet loss....

I also think so . My daughter has been complaining that it happens to nearly everything during the day, which will be the US peak evening time. I'm on 10mb ADSL with VOX , capped as well. My Roku is connected via WiFi and reports speed of 8.95 mbps.

I struggle to get fullHD, UHD should not work but it did. however if the fullHD would work every time I would be happy.

Thanks that helps.

My Speeds test are 19.8mbps to JHB. however fast.com is anything from 2.5 - 6 mbps at night.

I suspect its my ISP

Saturday night, peak time (21:41) and right now Netflix is down.

Not only do they restrict content to SA, they have trouble keeping the service alive. Time to contemplate a move...

Watching Netflix now with no issues.

Thank you Ryan, yes it appears that they are up again. However I can sign in (whoopee) but I cannot watch because I keep getting an error. No help from Netflix : https://help.netflix.com/ gives me a 500 error.
And I have discovered that my credit card has expired. It would have been nice of Netflix to remind me, but they didn't. So I have updated it, but still get an error.
Clear cookies, reboot. Reboot firewall. Clear cookies, reboot again. Try my other PC, clear cookies, reboot, same problem.

https://help.netflix.com/ still gives me a 500 error.

So now I am tired :sick::sick: so I think that I will just go to bed. After all, who needs entertainment on a Saturday night?

I'll cancel in the morning.
