Hi guys,

I've been reading a lot of posts regarding Netflix and UnoTelly. I recently moved to Dubai (from Pretoria) and got the local TV service here. Basically, just as expensive and to make it worse I can't record.

I've been trying Netflix + UnoTelly for about a week now and must say I'm really impressed by the selection of shows and movies. Only real issue is the quality. Currently were watching through my wife's pc connected to a Samsung 40". From research I found that the pc uses Microsoft Silverlight to stream Netflix. I'm really struggling to get HD to play on the PC, even though I have a 16Mb line.

So, are you guys able to get HD on pc? My PS3 is on the way, just wondering if it's my ISP or the PC.

Thanks in advance :)

Silverlight on your PC will struggle to get HD. Not sure about the PS3, but the WD TV Live Streaming Media Player plays Netflix and Hulu in HD without breaking a sweat on my 10mb line. Tested with multiple ISPs

Is your Sammy TV a Smart TV if so switch the region to US by pressing rewind 2,5,8 the fast-forward something like that. Download the Netflix App and use that - Iv used that on a 1mbps ADSL line without issue it also works on HD off a 4mb line. That way you don't need any other device be it a Apple TV or a WD TV - its all built in and it works just as well. Also Smart TV's hardware can be upgraded with a kit if you have the 6 series or above.

Streaming Netflix on my PC is also effortless and HD.

It's good to hear you are getting HD on the 10Mb line, so I should technically then not have a problem :) I've read that most people use other devices (PS3, Xbox 360, Ruku, Apple TV etc) rather than the pc.

Hopefully I'm not being shaped by my ISP.

Cool thanks for the advice. I have a Sammy 5 series, so not sure if can handle the Netlix app. Will do some research regarding that. It'll be cool to use the TV rather, the resolution makes it difficult to read text on the PC.

It seems that streaming HD on PC is a hit and miss. I know there are some titles on Netflix that does not support HD on a PC. What are you using to access the content? VPN or DNS?

Thanks for this, got it working directly from my Sammy now :D

No prob. saguran - its awesome to just have the TV planted on the wall with no decoders or devices at all :)

I use DNS - Unotelly

Agreed, looks real neat :) Cool, I use UnoTelly as well, very efficient and easy to use, would recommend it to people who want to go the streaming route. I tried Unblock US but was not really impressed with the interface.

btw, I see in your signature that you use an IPS screen for your PC, looking at your specs I assume you do some gaming as well. How are they for gaming? I've read that they're not great for gaming, some ghosting etc. I'm in the market for a new screen.
