Netflix workaround on LG Devices

Hi Guys,

As most of us know, LG really dropped the ball by not allowing us to change the region on our LG devices (TV, Blu-Ray) so that we could get some of those nice apps that Samsung users are enjoying(Netflix, Hulu).

Anyways, I was recently playing with the Netflix app on my Android phone and found that there is an option to select which device you want to view your video on (need to be on the same LAN/Wireless). So I proceeded to select my Blu-Ray Player and was pleasantly surprised to find that the actual Netflix App started up on my LG player. All you need to do is sign in and you have full access. There is a catch though, once you exit Netflix on the LG device, you need to use the Android App again to load it up.

I cannot speak for the iOS Netflix app, but my assumption is that it should work. Also, I was only able to test on my Blu-Ray player, as my LG TV is a bit to old to run those apps. I know it's not the best solution, but it's an option if you don't want to hook up your PC/Laptop to the TV every time you want to watch some Netflix.

Thanks a lot. Works perfectly as you discribed. Even though you need to restart it through your app, at least it remembers the sign in. So it's a million times better than what we had before.

I still hope someone comes up with a way to get Netflix to work on the LGs.

Where exactly in the android netflix app did you find this? Its not under settings.

My apologies for not going into details. If you open the netflix app, you should see the following on the Home page:



Just click on the button that has been circled in yellow. You will then see the list of your devices:



Just select your device and then go ahead and select a show/movie to watch. It will be sent to the LG device, and all you need to do is sign in and you are good to go.

Apologies for bringing up a dated topic, but getting Netflix on my LG TV would really be great, and warrant the additional money spent on the "Smart TV".

Has anyone been able to get this to work with the iOS Netflix App on the iPhone? The TV-Stream icon only appears within a video AFAIK, and it only displays AirPlay devices (i.e. Apple TV)

Is there a stream-icon to stream directly to the LG TV within the iOS app like its Android counterpart?

I have no luck with this either but I found this site where you can load a custom rom or something on your TV.
