Netflix's biggest challenger is YouTube

In the fight for America’s attention, Netflix Inc.’s closest streaming competitor isn’t Amazon or Hulu. It’s YouTube.

That’s according to a report from measurement firm Nielsen, which found that consumers spent 19% of their TV viewing time on a streaming service in the fourth quarter of 2019. That’s double the 10% level in early 2018.

They spent 31% of those streaming hours on Netflix, 21% on YouTube, 12% on Hulu and 8% on Amazon, according to Nielsen.

I to watch more of the Tube then anything else.

Me too. Have a couple of Netflix shows queued up, one is half done. BUT I've been watching exclusively YT for the past few weeks.

(The irony of this article coming after yesterday's poll which asked about streaming services but didn't include YouTube in the list is not lost on me)

I'm finding more and more content on Youtube that appeals to me over time....

Netflix and Prime for the big budget series and movies, but for day to day content YouTube is winning out for me.

This is true, Netflix is a bit on the neglect , i'm viewing more stuff on youtube now day-in day-out

true
i find myself watching Youtube more often these days

might just cancel my netflix account soon

I watch a lot of Youtube, and I seem to find myself watching a lot more Showmax than Netflix.

Might watch the occasional tutorial or music video on YouTube but Netflix and Hulu are my mainstay.

YouTube, enjoy the outdoor fishing, 4x4, camping videos from Australia mostly.
A couple documentaries.
Food and cooking videos.

No thanks the ads (product placement) in videos grind my gears. Watch the odd review, music video, live videos and tutorial but that's it.

So not like the product placement in series and movies then? You're cool with that shyte?

There’s even product placement on Mybroadband.

Well there it's mostly not so in your face. Start a video on youtube and just as you get into it there's a switch to an ad recommending you crap (Nordvpn etc.).

There’s even product placement on Mybroadband.
Easy to ignore...
