Anybody use this router?
For years I’ve only been using the wireless modems/routers you get for free when doing an installation. Something like the stock standard N300 netgears with the Telkom sticker..
Never really had any issues but signal was understandably spotty in adjacent rooms.
I bought this router as an upgrade. Reviews seems good and the price is not to bad.
Unboxing it was positive. Large router, nice large aerials.
However the signal strength is now s****r with this router than it is with a R400 pavement N300…
Where I usually had a spotty signal in a room far away, I now have no signal at all….
I physically have to be 4m from it with no obstacles in-between to get full signal…
Tried changing channels, switching between 2.4 and 5ghz, firmware upgrades, all the same. Sub N300 for a router that costs 4 times more and is advertised from large homes.
As I understand, 2.4ghz should perform better than 5ghz when it comes to penetration of walls. But the 2.4ghz signal is almost non existent…
What am I missing?
