Hi all,
Just wanting to find out about some of your experiences.
I am currently running a netgear DG834G Wireless ADSL modem.
I am very happy with it, except that it doesnt support bridged mode.
Can anyone suggest another modem that is as versatile (i think the netgear does well with the way it does port forwarding etc) that is UPNP, that preferably has more than one wired lan port, that is wireless & that supports bridged mode.
I dont know if this is to much to ask, but in the perfect world, this would be the modem i'm looking for. Does such a modem exist. (hopefully its not made by marconi  )

It does support bridged mode although not "officially" ... there is a hidden option in the menu.

That said ... it is rather silly to buy such an expensive Netgear and use it as a dumbed down modem.

experience with this modem

Hi guys,

I am thinking of getting this modem or DG834GT for use with my PC and a centrino laptop. I was just wondering what your experience with this modem was like and if any of you have used it with a centrino laptop and managed to get the full wireless speed? or what the max wireless speed you managed to get?

To Tibby.dude - Yes i know what your saying, but i am needing to log in to 2 different accounts from 2 different pc's from time 2 time (like when my one account is capped  ) So where is that hidden hidden menu item????

To lucifer - guy. not lucifer himself, just the bloke who chose the name lucifer...
I love my netgear modem. It works great. I have never had problems with the wireless. Takes me under 5 minutes to get it going. I have connected various wireless network pc's to it. Althoug I have only used the 834g (not the gt) I have managed to get full speeds. The range is also not bad.

no back to tibby - i really would like to find out more about this bridged mode!!!

Type this in your browser http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?next_file=mode.htm

I also use two accounts from two PC's ... just run one account until it is capped and then reconfigure it for the other account until it is capped.

It takes me about 5 minutes and I can still use the builtin firewall and VPN features.

Thanks, i did go do a search for the hidden feature in google & i found it. Just as you mention here. Just one more question. U say u can still use the firewall & vpn?
When i change the netgear to modem only, i dont have firewall or vpn settings available. Does that mean that they dont exist any more or does it still function although they are now in "hidden" mode?

Again thanks for the lead. I do have a way to change settings very quickly ( with typeitin). If you need info on that give me a shout. I'll gladly help
