Netgear DG824M Wireless Modem Gateway

I use this specific modem, while I haven't used the wireless aspect, the ADSL and network aspect, as well as firewall services it offers are great.

The Telkom POTS sucks imho...
I am currently overseas, where it costs about 200Euros (VAT inclusive). Is it worth bringing one back?

I am using this modem, and its great. Full firewall capabilities not just plain NAT, dynamic ip updating and wireless LAN. Works well. Also has 4 ethernet ports

There is now a newer version out I think the 834
 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't POTS stand for "Plain Old Telephone System"? (yes, the Telkom telephone system sucks, but I don't think that's quite what bv meant)

I too am using this specific modem, while I haven't used the wireless functionality either (but it's nice to have "just in case"), the firewall is great, and I haven't had a single problem with the ADSL connection (well... no single problem due to the router - Telkom is another matter altogether).
 
Please watch out if you're thinking of purchasing anything wireless.

Popped into Makro Ottery this morning to check the price of their wireless nic 802 11a. (11 Mbps) Price just under R700. Checked the price in the states and could buy for $15.
7 x the price! nothing unusual.

Noticed that there were same wireless nic's for $30+ Except that these use the 802.11g protocol (54 Mbps)
SA stores should have these in stock retailing for about R5 000 :-) once they have off-loaded all the old stuff on the unsuspecting public.
