I have a Netgear DG834 on a 512 ADSL line. Everything works fine, I can connect over Windows XP VPN to my office, but am trying to give a user access from outside to this LAN, where the DG834 is. I have a DynDNS account setup on the router, and the Netgear VPN Client software on his laptop. The laptop uses a Vodacom 3G card for internet access.

I can ping the dynamic DNS name of my router, it resolves it to an IP but times out every time.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

There should be a firewall option on the NetGear router that blocks Ping/ICMP packets from the WAN.

one of the defaut rules in the firewall blocks all incoming it seems, but there is no "radio button" to select and then edit this rule. will creating an explicit "allow" rule help?

thanks mate
