Heya.
Since i got the Netgear dg834 i had a very unstable connection, and it would log off and log on again etc under heavy load. I wouldnt see a general uptime of more than an hour, in bad times every 30 minutes it would restart, and in very bad times it would just connect and disconnect continously. I tried all the official firmwares, configs etc, but nothing seemed to really work. I scoured many forums, and found that people with the same problem recommended an old beta firmware a1.03.07beta, found here : http://www.htff.co.uk/netgear/index.html

Basically it solved it all! Now it doesnt disconnect at all anymore, and stability is great! They said the reason why this firmware worked for some was because of some older dslams that some isps may use (telkuk?).
Anyways hope this helps some people.

That worked for me too, in a different kind of way...

I have a dg834 at the office (the old kind, almost the size of A4 page) which has worked perfectly for the last 8 months, so I bought one for my home connection. The same model, now considerably smaller though.

Well it kept rebooting randomly and seeing your post I decided to give that firmware a bash. The update went fine until the "Click OK to reconnect" box thingie. It wouldn't connect. I tried pretty much everything including the recovery utility to no avail.

I then took it back to my dealer who also tried everything and then gave me a new one. :)

Maybe the new models (version 2) don't like that firmware? Maybe my modem was dying anyway.

Either way I'd reccomend that people only install that firmware if it's absolutely neccessary.
