I've been using RouteSentry to connect to the internet for the past couple of months. Last night I tried connecting to my router's default setup page but couldn't. I uninstalled RS and connected my laptop to my router via network cable (was using wireless before). I kept getting a 'this network has limited or no connectivity' error. I then installed a fresh copy of Win XP on my 2nd HDD, installed network card drivers and it still wouldn't connect.

What could be the problem? All I wanted was to change the router settings so I could connect my 360 to LIVE :(

Check you IP Address, make sure you are onthe same range, i.e IF the Router is 192.168.0.1 (Default Netgear IP address), then you PC should be something like 192.168.0.x

You can also try resetting the router, if that does not help try this:

Go stStart, Click Control Panel, Network Connections, Tight Click Local Area Connection, Select properties, Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Click on Properties,

Now enter you IP address(192.168.0.2), SubnetMask 255.255.255.0, Gateway(192.168.0.1), Prefered DNS Server (192.168.0.1).

Click OK, then see if you have Network Connectivity

Also sticking a pen in the reset button at the back of the router could fix any funny gremlins that may have kicked in. Its worth a try, even if only to eliminate one more possibility.

Eish @ all that trouble that you went through!!!

I totally agree with the two posters above about resetting the router. Obviously, this will erase all the settings you have entered into it, but it will get it working. Also, I believe the reason you are getting this error is that the router has DHCP disabled (the default is to have it enabled). What that means is that the router does not assign IP addresses to devices that connect to it. If Windows can't get an IP address from the router, you won't be able to connect to the router's control panel. Perhaps you had your router set to run in bridge mode and that turned DHCP off...

Also, if you have specified a proxy, make sure to put 192.168.0.1 as an excluded address.
