I have a NetGear DG834 ADSL modem/router, configured to be modem only, and a WGR 614 Wireless router. I believe to have set the router uo correctly regarding ISP user name and password, which I assume to be the only settings. The modem is attached to the modem socket on wireless router, and the router connected to my PC on one of its LAN ports. I can access the router through its 192.168.0.1 address, but it fails to connect.

I have just put back my Billion modem/router with nothing else and I'm online asking this. Anyone know what I could be doing wrong, or not doing?

Im not completely sure what you are trying to do. Are you trying to setup a wireless connection?
1. The username and PW are not the only things to set. You need to set the VPI and VCI as well. Also Network type is usually PPPoE, but check with your ISP.
2. Try the wired connection on the DG834 first. You may even need to enter the IP addresses of your primary/secondary DNS in your TCP/IP properties.
3. Now connect the WGR614, ensure that SSID is broardcasting and Turn Access Control off (for now).

This should assist
