Hi, so recently i have swopped my old telkom router for a new netgear one but i seem to have a problem setting up a PPPoE connection on the computer and also on a different on on the wireless network. Windows give me a Error 651

If i want to swop adsl accountd i have to manually put them into the router so can anyone please assist

If you've got the Netgear DGN2200, then you won't be able to dial the PPPoE account from your PC.

... and this is just one of the reasons why I can't recommend Netgear products...

which model? the older one you could enable bridging through a hidden web UI, unfortunitly the newest model doesn't support bridging at all

edit://
Pada's too darn quirk :)

Omw are you serious? Yes i have the DGN2200, bought it for like R1,400. **** the old cheap telkom one could do it!!

So if i want to switch adsl accounts i have to put it in the router?

Got the same one.. R1400 is expensive.. eish !! And I also miss the bridging, other than that no problems. I just backup current accounts (backup and restore settings) and easily swop between them.. takes +- 30 sec.

You can always try to log in on the router using a Telnet client (which you'll have to install on Win7), and then try to determine the kind of shell it has (eg. BusyBox) and the available commands (like 'brctl', which can be used to bridge interfaces). Usually you can get the list of commands by simply typing in 'help', followed by <Enter> ofc.

If the router has brctl, then you might be able to bridge it with like 'brctl addif br0 nas0' < that was the command on the DG834.

glad I didn't go for this one, although I wish in the end that I had given the Linksys WAG320 a try.

now using the DGN3500 but my details are perma on it.

you would expect them to by now know that people would want both methods of being able to connect.
