Hi guys,

Are any of you running a Netgear RP614 modem? Netgear's website describes it as a "Cable/DSL" router (as opposed to ADSL). Just curious to see if it works on our adsl network.

Thanks

Hi,

The Netgear RP614 is only a router, it does not have a built in modem - this means you will need an external adsl modem in addition to the router.

Thanks Azrael, I realised that when I looked at the diagram. Sad that it took a picture to explain it :-)

What puzzles me is that they make a product like that, but they don't seem to make an ADSL modem that's just that and nothing else any more. The last one that I have seen is the DG602, which by the way is a very very reliable and robust modem. All the ones they make now are integrated modem/firewall/router products. I just need something to dial and make the connection....

What about the DG632 (disable the routing capability) ???.

Yeah, I discovered that the other day when we received the wrong modem (DG632 instead of DG834 - packaging error) for a client.

Beautiful piece of hardware, I'm ordering mine tomorrow :-)
