Hi

We have just got the Netgear Vdsl D7000 router. The router syncs at 22mb but will just not connect to the Internet. I have tried 2 different usernames and passwords, reset to factory settings and tried again. Still no joy?

Have you checked the VPI /VCI?

Otherwise will gladly take it off your hands, LOL

We got it directly from Duxbury, will have to give them a call tomorrow and see what is going on. I connected it to an adsl line and it works? Just not on the VDSL line.

R u sure ur line is working as vdsl?

^ this

Your DSL line may not have been converted to VDSL which is why the line doesn't sync when using the VDSL profile on your modem.

You'll have to call Telkom and have them check this for you. The port on your exchange also has to be changed, but this is purely based on the availability of VDSL ports on the exchange

Hi

I have also just purchased the D7000 Netgear and struggling to get it to login to Telkom VDSL. My "old" Telkom Pace router confirms the connection as VDSL, but the Netgear refuses to connect? Please will you share any suggestions or info you have, and if you manage to come right connecting your router....

Thanks in Advance
Robin

I have an ASUS DSL-N66U modem. My line is also supposed to be VDSL, but even if I change my DSL modulation to VDSL, the modem still runs in ADSL2PLUS mode.

Have you tried copying the settings from your Pace router to your Netgear router?

I tried as much as I could, the Netgear has a few additional network options to configure, I left them as standard / default.

Maybe call your ISP and ask them for your settings?

They can usually help you with that sort of thing

Hi

Yes same problem as Rhood1 , we had a Pace vdsl router which is giving us problems, so yes it is a vdsl line. I setup the Netgear as an adsl router and it works on an adsl line. What is this VLAN(IIRC) to 835? Not even sure I remember seeing this?

I think VLAN tells the DSL infrastructure on which 'virtual circuit/lan' you wish to connect.
For ADSL, this was expressed as 3 different settings that must always be 0, 8 and 35
for VDSL, you must set the VLAN ID to 835 or you will not have internet access.

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly ;)

Thanks MR Jax, will check this out going to only be able to check tomorrow when I have access to VDSL line, sorry not to sharp of me with regards to IIRC

Just to follow up, thanks Mr.Jax it was what you said, as soon as I changed the vlan to 835 it connected first time. Thank you very much for the help.:D
