Hi all,
After years of using a mediocre Pace router, Sunday's electrical storm took it out.
Details:
Telkom is my ISP
I have the usual case of 20mbps adsl2+ masquerading as VDSL.
As a precaution I always pull out my old Netgear DGN2200 to check if the internet is working and all was fine. Speedtest was showing 15 - 17mbps which is a normal range.
The following day I bought the Netgear VEVG2660. (Telkom screwed up the easy internet setup in the firmware). But I manually entered all my details and the internet connection works fine. But my speed is now capped at a flat 2mbps on speedtest!
Once again I pull out my old Netgear DGN2200 only to discover it too is now capped at 2mbps. I fear that, as both are Netgear routers, the settings from one have interfered with the other.
To correct this problem I have:
1. Done a factory reset on the Netgear VEVG2660 without any effect
2. Played around with the MTU settings without any effect (It's currently at 1492 as it was previously)
3. Called Telkom to reset my connection, without effect. They are aware my line speed is 20mbps and can see on my side I'm only syncing at 2mbps
I'm completely stumped. Any advice on what to do from here? Any suggested DNS settings I should try?
I will post my Netgears settings if necessary.
