I'd like to setup a wireless network @ home using a fixed ADSL line. I've narrowed the wireless modem/router options down to the following Netgear products:

1) Netgear RangeMax Next Wireless N Cable Router with 4 10/100 Mbps switch and Single WAN Stock Code(SKU) : WNR834B-100ISS

2) Netgear 108Mbps Super GTM Wireless ADSL Firewall Router w/4-Port 10/100 Mbps Switch Stock Code(SKU) : DG834GTUK

My main concerns are security & sustainable transfer rates. Which one???:)

I use an airport express, works great, not so sure about the premium combo router though.

Netgear is generally good, good luck with you choice.

Unless you have cable, you have already chosen.

Wow, well spotted... I missed that...

Just to clarify, marlins, Gatecrasher is pointing out that the RangeMax router you have identified has no built-in ADSL modem, whereas the Super G router does. I use the DG834GT and it is superb - I'd highly recommend it.

Although, if you have equipment with Wireless-N (as opposed to Wireless-G), you may want to go with the RangeMax for improved signal at greater distances and throughput (with file transfers within your network; your ADSL won't be fast enough :))

I got a DG834GT and use AirPort around the house too. Signal is always at 100% even when outside with my MacBook in the yard from the router. I'm not sure about the other but DG834GT is really good.

Though the above person said the WNR834B-100ISS has 802.11 N(New wireless technology which most Airport now has) Both your options are NetGear, you'll have no problem with either, that's for sure.
