One of my clients has a Netgear wireless extender. So I set it up last night, connected it to a laptop via ethernet cable and it picked up the network fine.

I then went to mywifiext.net and went through the entire setup process. Got to the end and the laptop couldn't find the new network.

So I restarted the laptop, reset the extender to factory settings in an attempt to start again, but once back in Windows, the laptop can't detect the extender.

All it says is 'Unidentified Network' where as before it said NETGEAR_EXT. I have tried everything, I have reset factory settings, I have now tried it on my PC and same story.

Do you think it is faulty?

what model is the extender?

also, when you said you tried it on PC, I am assuming you mean you connected it via cable?

I have found that when it says Unidentified Network, I usually need to manually input IP to match that of the router/extender.

It is the WN2000RPT. Yip I connected it via cable. I did try assign a static IP and didn't help.

Does your router have QSS?If so activate it on your router then hold down the WPS button on your extender until it starts flashing.Your router and extender should be talking within a matter of minutes.
