I don't have much experience in networking so just need someone to confirm this will work.

There are 3 desktop PCs and an Office printer (has a network port). So to connect them all together I just need to buy a switch then connect everything to it and add the printer on each PC? No other special hardware needed?

Edit
The switch will be the cheapest method right?

Yes.

You can run into troube with OS + x64 though depending on printer driver support. All the PCs need the printer drivers, not just the one with the printer attached. Mostly it pulls it correctly automatically, but if driver support isn't there then its a problem.

It is a network printer. Not attached to *one* pc.

@Silverlight: Yes, a switch will do nicely. Then add the driver to each pc. You need to setup the ip addresses of each pc an printer manually. This is the important part.

1 x 8 port switch
cable
find out the ip address on the printer or set one if it has not got one.
set the PC's to the same range as the printer.
add printer to each pc by scanning for it's ip address using the printing software.
