I actually find the low qualification point of entry quite refreshing compared to the usual needs to have a BSC or CCNA etc and be woefully overqualified for the position.

Tells me they value experience more than paperwork.

I find nothing related to architecting or cybersecurity in there.

The baffling part of the post is the need for your own computer at home. WTF?

  • Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximise network efficiency and security
Could be done by a network engineer but proposals and designing is the job of a architect:
  • Drafting of network diagrams, proposals and technical documentation
  • Implementing and/or designing new system configurations

My impression is this is likely small business maybe SME stuff, that isn’t going to really get much in the way of design or site to site VPNs and the like even.

I’ve very rarely actually seen an architect do this kind of stuff in anything but the largest of corporates with worldwide offices etc.

And even then you don’t need to be or have an architect to achieve any of those things.

This sounds more like contracted IT work to multiple clients with small setups and very cookie cutter at that.

Considering the qualifications required and the experience level it’s not an unreasonable jack of all trades ask.
