This is probably a stupid question, but... where do I get network (LAN) cable in Cape Town?

I want to run about 12m from the router to the media center; because the walls in my house are thick and wireless signal is not great.

So I need to buy cable with the plugs attached. Where?

I went to a Computer Mania, in Long St.

Got the cable, drilled a hole through my wall, rigged the cable up - about 3 hours work... all before testing the ****ing thing worked.

Of course, it does not: no light, and doesn't work with a different machine. Either I bought a dud, or I broke the wires while installing. I didn't make it do anything too serious, only a 4 corners, so I can only assume that it was broken already or that untwisting it broke something.

Needless to say I am not very happy.

Broke the wires, did you crimp it correctly?

It came with fixed plugs - I didn't do any crimping.

I also didn't force it through any really sharp angles, it seems it was probably faulty to start with. But now I've attached it to my wall, I'm pretty unlikely to get a refund.
