Hi,

I'm struggling to get my VOIP network to work reliably.

My current network configuration is as follows:

ADSL (4MB up/512KB down)

ADSL Modem (connect using PPPoE)
IP: 192.168.2.1
Comments: Port forwarding and firewall disabled
|
|

Wireless 2.4Ghz CPE in WDS mode (to span 3kms)
IP: 192.168.2.7

Wireless 2.4Ghz CPE in WDS mode
IP: 192.168.2.9
|

Linksys wrt54gl router with DD-WRT VOIP (dd-wrt.v24_voip_generic)
IP: 192.168.2.31
DHCP Enabled for 192.168.1.100~254
Comments: Port forwarding and firewall disabled

Nokia N95
IP: 192.168.1.101
SIP Settings - as per VoipBuster instructions (including Proxy, Registrar and Stun server configuration)

and another N95 with similar config as above.

Firstly when dialing from one N95 to the other, it takes a considerable amount of time to get to ringing, at times it will just timeout. For some strange reason, when phone A calls phone B,
it wont work, however when the other way round it does.
Both phones are able to make outgoing calls using VOIPBuster, to normal landlines. (Reliably so).
When one phone is outside the network, as in using 3G, it also works unreliably. I cant really see any pattern.

What recommendations do you have to enable a reliable VOIP network/solution.

The one phone will for the most part stay inside the network, whereas the other may move around and connect via 3G.

Thanks in advance

Install Wireshark on your network and look at the VoIP call traffic, possibly NAT traversal problems prevalent in SIP. IAX2 will not be a problem
SIP call initiation : Port 5060 and voip data on RTP protocol

Try the phones on the same non natted network and see if they have problems, analyse the Voip call initiation with Wireshark
