I have two users thus far, 1st about 3 months ago, and the other one now.

Network connection just loses connectivity, then after a while connects again. Used 3 different cat cables, still does the same. Now this first users laptop was formatted, and then the problem still happened. I replaced her notebook with a desktop, same cable same port, never had the problem. Is it a laptop issue (hardware)?

Both are HP notebooks, with extended warranty tho, and both are ~2 years old.

my advise is buy acer rather than hp

send it in to hp to look at it although when they test it, it will prolly work just fine

do you have a network card you could test it with or another network you could hook it up to

have you plugged it into another port assuming you have a 4,8 or 16 port hub

We have 4 Cisco 5500's (or 5100) and i its either HP/Compaq or IBM. Ill send it to HP, let them maar fix whatever is wrong.

Try forcing the ports on the Cisco's to 100MB/Full and then updating the drivers on the notebooks. Also enable portfast on the switches which stops the longwinded negotiating on the ports.

have a very similar problem on hp nx7010. only diff is that it doesn't reconnect (i haven't left it for a while, I normally reboot immediatly).

i can force the network to die by opening a telnet session and pasting lots of repetitive data:
Code:
hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello

Hmm, I have seen the same (sort of) thing on my HP NX9110. The wireless will just disconnect, and then reconnect in about 10 seconds. I have seen this both at the office and at home, and in both instances there are other machines around not being disconnected at all.

What the problem or solution is, I don't know

EDIT: And as I was typing, it did exactly that. First time in about 2 weeks :D

The solution I have found to your problem is to install and use the vendor provided WiFi managemnt app instead of letting Windows manage the connection.

the HP guy was here and explained that it is an HP problem. Motherboard needs to be changed. One laptop is under warrany and the other isnt.
