Network Diagnostics

Does anyone know of any software that can do diagnostics on a network, like checking for faulty ethernet NIC's and faulty switches and ports etc?

The TCP/IP layer will correct it before it hits the software....so you'd need something that overrides the layer at kernel level.

You get hardware to check cables though.

Intel/broadcom Nic's have a diagnostic tools for the card, switches you have the web interface with the tools built-in depending on the make of the switch

I like this one, never seen it before, netstat -a with a GUI and a bit like TCPview or Wireshark (more a protocol analyzer)
