Good Day,

I need some advice to on how I can check dips on our network.

We have a company that has setup a call center (CRM)/VOIP system. The problem is ever since the system was implemented about 3 months ago, theres always a problem. the agents are now complaining that the calls are dropping and this company is saying that this is caused by dips on the network and I would like to find a way to monitor and be alerted when the network dips.

I've install spiceworks network monitor the adsl router, and a few machines where this system is used and theres hasnt been any disconnections since monday (19 sept). I've also checked the routers and the connections has been established for more that 15 days.

Is there another way I can check these network dips?

the setup is

ADSL for browsing and emails to their mikrotic router (gateway) to network switch where all pc's are connected, then diginet (for voip) also connected to same mikrotik router.

If you want to do proper monitoring of the network, I would say install a cacti and a smokeping server.. cacti will graph network traffic very nicely and immediately show any drops and smokeping will take care of graphing latency/packet loss type stuff.. then use this https://pushover.net/ to send push notifications to your phone when things go wrong..

Did you guys implement QoS for tagging the traffic where Voice packets are prioritized? Of course, QoS only comes into play, if there is actual contention on your switching/wan infrastructure?

Few questions:-
1) How many users?
2) Speed of ADSL (Up/down)
3) Diginet speed?
4) Switching infrastructure (switch type, speed, etc)
