Hi all and thanks so long for your help.

I last my previous machine to lightning some two weeks ago and got the replacement yesterday.

It is a Win 10 Prof 64-bit OS.

I get this message:
Network Error
Windows cannot access \\MYNAS
Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose.

I have done everything in this article to try it to grant me access: https://www.minitool.com/news/the-network-path-not-found.html
At first it doesn't even want to list my NAS under "Network" but after the change of settings as suggested, it is now listed.
When I ping it from the command prompt, it Pings perfectly.
As I see it, it has to do with permissions or something very small.

I will REALLY appreciate your insights. I urgently need to access the NAS to get some work done.

Thanks.

How is your network sharing settings? Is it enabled? You can check it by searching for sharing.

Also. Not sure if it would make a difference and the type of NAS, but is the PC and NAS on the same Workgroup?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the sort of normal settings, file sharing and so on are enabled.
Workgroup all defaults settings, meaning "Workgroup" as the workgroup.

The Nas a prebuilt little jobbie? Enable SMB v1 client from add remove features

What error are you getting? Try posting a screenshot

It's a Western Digital MyBook Live DUO. Worked perfectly well on my previous Win 10 Prof machine.

Yes, SMB v1 enabled.

What I see is that you should login to the UI and the drive gets mounted in Windows.
So just check 'This PC' in explorer after UI login for the drive.

Attached a screenshot of the error I get. Windows cannot diagnose the problem.
Will it help if I format from scratch?

Thanks for your time, guys. I really appreciate your efforts.

I have just noticed that I can access the "public stuff". Does that mean something?

This is what I see. When I click on the WD-logo I get access to the media, but not my backups.

This is the complete error message. I changed my own login-name for Windows to have viewing right only as NAS user and still could not access.

The way forward to access your My Book Live is:

  1. Open your file browser
  2. In the Network pane under Storage section, you should see your My Book Live device
  3. RIGHT click that icon, select Open option
  4. A file browser will appear, you now should have access to your My Book Live storage

Hi and thank you for your reply.

Attached the screen I get when I right-click. No file browser (windows brower?) opens up when right-clicking.

I'm beginning to suspect McAfee which came pre-installed.

Right clicking on the device in the storage section should give you a standard Windows context menu with the option to open. Clicking on open should mount the drive. This is how I understand it from WD.

Yes, there is an Open option. It does open my Windows browser but still only the "media" (photos and sound) is accessible. My backups don't display. Thanks for your help and time.
