Right, i have managed to get my internet connection shared onto my mom's laptop, via a network cable and four-port router....but somehow I don't seem to be able to share any files/drives between the two computers and they don't seem to be able to see each other either...

Am i just being dof here?

For more info regarding my router issues see here :http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=60466

Any help would be appreciated!

Sysgate personal Firewall...Do i need to do something with it?

Try disable the firewall on both computers then see if the computers can see each other, if they can then you will need to set something in the firewall options. Also check that both PC's have the same subnet mask.

Ok...I shall give that a shot...

Do you assign fixed IP's for your PC's or does your router use DHCP? If it does just check that your router is set up properly for a LAN. A friend of mine once had the same problem and it was just the router that wasn't set up correctly.

Another thing is XP firewall, be sure you have disabled that.

And make sure your IP's are in the same range (If one is a Windows assigned IP it wont work with 192.168.x.x that you set yourself) and that you are in the same workgroup just to make it easier.
