can you ping the pc thats connected to the Billion router from the laptop?
If you can ping it, then on the pc you will need to go to network and sharing centre, click advanced sharing settings, and tick the file and printer sharing on.

Hi guys,

^This is my network and my issue is I can't share any files with the computer connected directly to the Billion Router from the PC's connected to the WiFi router.

Can anyone assist? Anything I should check ?

1. Is the pc connected to the billion router main router and the other PC on the same IP range?
2. Is the Asus Wifi Router acting as an AP bridge or a router (ie WAN port connected to the billion with an IP on the billion range, and the clients on the Asus getting assigned a different IP range.

My theory is the two routers are giving out different IP ranges through DHCP.

Disable DHCP on the Asus Wifi router if it is only acting as an AP.

The first this I'd try is a basic ping to the other PC on the network if that doesnt work then its a network issue probably with the AP bridge.
If you can ping but cannot view any shares then you'll need enabled file sharing on the host PC.
If its shared and you still canot view the PC then try browsing the the UNC name \\hostname or IP Address e.g. \\192.198.0.1
to get the hostname/ip from your host pc you can use ipconfig /all command in a command prompt.

What ports did you connect the Billion and the Wifi routers to eachother? If it's the WAN port it won't bridge network traffic, has to be one of the LAN ports

1. No idea, will check when I get home
2. I just need it to give me wireless upstairs, think it's running as a router right now.

@PsyWulf from the Billion router the cable runs to the WAN port on the Asus router

There's your problem, wan and lan interfaces aren't bridged so they can't see one another. Connect the adsl router to lan port and disable routing on the wan router

Wait a second..won't this make the WiFi not work? Will the simplier option be to find a 50m cable somewhere and like the 1st pc to the wireless aswell?

I would not have it setup as a router. Disable the router function and set it up only as an access point in bridge mode. This will then pass through DHCP from the billion router.

I suspect the pcs are on different ip ranges. You can get them to see each other in the current setup, but it is more complex than the option i have suggested above.

Another option is just to get a more powerful wireless router (wireless n) as the main router. This will simplify things a whole lot more.

I have only one router (wireless n) and I get great coverage throughout the place, including through some pretty hefty brick wells

Nah,just configure the asus to act as an AP instead of a router,no probs

Sorry about the lack of update, got it working by simply changing the Asus router tob AP mode. :) Home group is now working properly but just need to get streaming working properly.
