Hi all

What is the cheapest and easiest way to limit the bandwidth Bering used by one device / port on the network

My router doesn't have to functionality to do it, need to add something to do it so need advice on what to get?

Hi @tyerone

In my opinion the cheapest, easiest and value for money for home usage*, considering you already have a router that can provide wifi:

The MikroTik hAP Mini:

You would then use this as your primary router/firewall directly connected to the fibre/wan, and repurpose the existing router as a Wireless AP, connected in bridge mode.

Configuration of the MikroTik isn't that difficult, however it may take a bit to wrap your head around, and I would be happy to assist you via DM if you get stuck.

*Note I would recommend using the hAP ac2 instead if you have a line speed above 50Mbps.

Kind Regards,
Jeandre
