Hey

I would just like to know
I wanna get a prog with what i can scan my network
that is able to get all my different subnets
and all the pc's with their ip addresses
and that monitors the lines so u can c when it drops
or sumthin like that

basically my current network is 500 users at 5 sites
accross South Africa and i just wanna keep tabs on
whats going on

I know 3com has a nice prog but cant remember what it is called

So please if u know of any kewl prog that work like
a dream please can u let me know

thxn in advance:rolleyes:

Free program from Mikrotik called "The Dude". Works quite nicely. I use it for controlling my network of 5 sites, 130 users. You supply it the subnets, and it scans the subnets for you. It then creates a little graphic with the object, and links it to it's relevant subnet. What's nice, is you can then click on the graphic and run any "tool" that you need. I use it for many things. I can create custom tools. So I've got stuff like a tool for creating an RDP session to the machine, creating a VNC session, browsing the C$ share, changing the default Windows Admin Password, changing the machine name, opening an http session on the machine if it exists, same with ftp. It automatically keeps a register on what machines are on and which aren't. By default, if the machine is on, the object image is green, if off, it's red.

Either way check it out. I love the tool.

Aah ya nice app hey

its almost what i am looking for actually exactly
but i am a very lazy dude

Isnt there like a app that can scan all ur subnets network
and then show u exactly what servers u have what types of servers
they are and just basically show u the exact path

I know u can do it with that dude app but u have to go and
enter that information manually anything that does it auto

And i am willing to pay!

thnx again
Have to go and play sum PS3 now:p

If adding 5 subnets is not lazy, then I don't know :) I've got five subnets. Add them in, then it does the rest. If it detects a server, and is able to recognize it as a server, it labels it as such. Router, detects it as a router. Printer is detected as a router. Once it is done, it saves the info. I then just restructure the layout a little, and I'm sorted. Been a great time saver for me. Not aware of any other packages, as this has done the job for me

ya kewl i have sum time on my hands today so ill enter all the info and make sum changes where needed

thnx again

I was also thinkin last night. Due to the vast number of possible subnets out there, you'd have to tell a piece of software what subnet to scan, else it would take forever just to find your active subnets, never mind scan them
