Hi all. Anyone know what is going on this morning. I see from other threads that their is (has??) been authentication server problems since last night. In durban i have not experienced any Auth problem, which is weird since i am sure we must all Auth on the same server, however i am having speed issues. Browsing single thread is slow. Web pages loading probably at about 4-6KB/s. Multithread downloading 30-40KB/s and Bittorrents also acceptable at 30-40KB/s. Cant really explain the marked difference between single and multi thread, anyone else similar???

I don't know what they did with last night's "fix" but it definately is worse now than it was before. My connection was MUCH better during last week - now it's all buggered again..

I was getting 60 - 80KBps on an international multithread download. I'll be suprised if I can get 6 now!

If it's not broken - don't fcking fix it!

So agree

What the fluck was up with last night? I phoned their support center like 4 times, and I was told 45min, 45 min, and then I was told 11PM. I asked the support guy..," but isnt that the time you go off work?" and he just laughed and agreed. Like wtf? Surfuce to say, when I tried to connect at 2:30am I realised once again just how much IBurst lies.

And today, I have sub ISDN speeds, when most of last week I was getting fantastic speeds (just lots of disconnections).

*ponders at setting up a iburstibust hate website like hellkom.co.za*

If anyone takes the effort to read these threads in IBurst, try be more honest with your clients.

The whole 11pm thing irritated me a little, the last call I made was at about 10:20pm, also got the whole it will be fixed by 11 argument, 1st thing I said was dont you knock off then? The nervous laugh followed, Anyways when I asked who was dealing with the problem I got told "him" Further probing could not get me an answer as to who "him" was.

Alchamy, et al, what number are you guys calling?

I call 0118774733, and obviously I get an engaged tone - due to the rest of you sitting in the (probably 0861) queue waiting to be told a bunch of dirty crockery at your own expense ;) So, eventually I give up...

Serously though, what number is everyone dialing?

I REFUSE (DO YOU HEAR ME WBS), I REFUSE POINT BLANK TO CALL AN 0861#!!!

we've been here before, but with Sentech.

my speeds are also gone completely. I'd suggest everyone with the problem,
phone the help desk and be persistent about stating there's a problem, and asking (when the usual 'I'll have to speak to Luis' line is said) - to ask exactly WHEN Luis will be spoken to, and demand a response or callback within an hour
or two..
If no response back - then repeat calls, as well as perhaps using the cellphone
numbers of the upper management people..

I asked the Orc if bandwidth throttling had been started - the reply was the usual sidestep of 'not that I'm aware of'. (which is not the same as 'no')

Just got a callback. Told that 'Luis is on his way to UUNET'
apparently that's where something's going wrong.. (I'd complained
about both the constant disconnections - and more recently, the
major drop in bandwidth.)
I was very clear to ask the Orc if Luis was physically going to UUNET
as we speak. He said 'yes'.

We'll see as the afternoon goes on, if there's any change in anything..
(Naturally I'm gonna be the persistent piece of snot that wont
leave the finger -as far as calling them and bugging them about it goes,
a technique learned from dealing with Sentech)

ic, logic tells me that if 011 8774700 is reception then 8774733 eill be someone's direct like.

011 8774700 puts you in the 0861 queue - at least outside office hours.

I just spoke to Thabo, apparently he spoke to a technitian 10-20 min ago. Theres a technitian on his way to UUNET

not with me edinetz, it was engaged, so I called the 0861 number
Sucker!!! :)
Apart from that I don't see anything for today, or that explains why my continually disconnecting connection has had worse than 56K dial-up speeds for a heck of a long time now. I am serious about the 56K dial-up - I have ABSA as my dialup ISP & it is actually faster & more reliable than my iBurst connection, I seriously kid you not!!!

Thanks to my Vodacom per second package I called all them numbers starting from 0118774700 and it looks like the 0861 number resolves to 0118774704 (lucky for me it only took 4 calls)

Now lets see if they change it again - then we know they are definitely trying to reduce calls buy making everyone phone a 0861 number.

At the very least WBS should have an 0860 ShareCall number - considering that they are causing all of our grief & strife. Different if it is someone calling up bcos they messed their iBurst installation up & cannot get connected due to their own negligence. In the present Burst-i landscape it is constantly WBS at fault for being so useless & messing things up, why must we all pay premium rates to Telkomonopoly on the WBS 0861 MAXIMUM-RIPOFF number, only to be told some twoddle they just thought up...? Methinks the WBS employees must be getting Telkomonopoly shares as part of their packages.

haha, we should meet as a group and confront them with this, like 20 of us go at the same time to voice our opinions:P

AMANDLA!

*toi toi*

ic push it down sihen's throat to have it on 0860, or the new guy, i think his name was Sean/Shaun

5pm on a saturday, and these people at iBurst just switch over to
a taped message - and the speeds are still lousy, and the disconnections are continuing..

Who wants to be the first to phone Thami Mtshali (chief operating officer) on his cell number, which is 082 565 8054

The trunk is 0118774704, after making enough noise one day they were "kind" enough to provide me with it.
