So I had a problem with my TP-LINK router after returning from holiday. here, whereby none of the 4 computers were able to connect anymore. Could not even access router to change config settings. Mweb said not their problem...can't assist - fair enough. (spoken to no less than 6 consultants)

Now I've borrowed a Telkom router (Mega 105WR) and I'm halfway there. This is the situation with 4 computers:

PC 1: cable connected to router - working fine
PC 2: wireless - Not connecting
Laptop 1: wireless - working fine
Laptop 2: wireless - Not connecting

The two that's not working does not save the network key I type in

Network Authentication: Open
Data encryption: WEP

Any ideas?

Don't use WEP/WPA. Instead use WPA2-PSK with AES/TKIP/AES+TKIP (last method is recommended).

Could you perhaps tell us what TP-Link model it is that you have?

Have you checked your filters? If they were hit by lightening whilst on holiday, you need to replace them...I hope this helps...

Skip WEP and go WPA-TPIK

I've tried this before but no success. What I don't understand is why the 2 comps (not connecting) does not save the network key. When I enter the 10 char key it defaults back to some 8 char key

Perhaps it's in text vs hex mode?!

Make sure to delete the wireless configuration that you previously had on the PC's for that SSID.

The easier option would be to change the wireless router's SSID, so that the PC's won't have anything stored for that SSID.

The SSID is the name of the wifi AP that your PC will display after discovery.
