Network locked

I have a Billion 7401VGP thats network locked and I was thinking that if I upgrade the firmware that would get rid of the network lock.

The problem I have is that the Billion SA site's firmware is older than the firmware I currently have on the router.

Would it allow me to "downgrade" the firmware or can I use the American firmware?

As far as I know the european firmware should work on the local Billions... Don't quote me on that though...

Don't blame me if you brick your router. But I've updated a South African Billion router with European firmware, just make sure you choose the Annex A firmware

Secondly, your router won't have the same gateway address.

So just open a cmd window and type in ipconfig ,look at the default gateway, enter that into your browser to configure the router. Remember to reset the router after upgrading (or downgrading)

Its cool. I found a way to bridged it cause it doesnt allow you to do it in the normal way.

As far as I'm aware, it is illegal to network lock a device. There was an issue some time back where Vodacom and MTN were network locking the phones to its clients and it was eventually ruled that this practice was illegal. So I would imagine that this practice would be to.

I own it so I can do what I like with it right...
I was willing to risk bricking mine with a firmware upgrade to get it to do what I wanted.
