Network Notices: Slow International

trying to play poker online and I'm getting loads of disconnects :(

*twiddles thumbs* This is ridiculous... I can't play any MMORPGs, I can't access any significant sites... I can barely access my e-mail (gmail... Don't use the telkom one)... And the cable(s) will only be repaired and everything will be back to normal in 2 weeks? Someone shoot me now and end the agony... As if Telkom wasn't bad enough... Now I'm paying them for not even providing a service.

Everyone around the world has this problem to be honest, I was using Live Messenger for Mobile and logging onto it, gave me a message saying the network link is currently congested due to slowdown of traffic caused by the earthquake.

Telkom doesnt control Earthquakes or international cable faults like this.

I must honestly say I am not pro Telkom and I understand fully the reasons we dislike them, but seriously you are going a little way out there on this. We cant point fingers at Telkom and say our service is messed up, look at your local speeds today, THAT is Telkoms network. There is nothing wrong with local speeds.

LoL :) I wasn't saying Telkom's to blame for it (unless Telkom can cause earthquakes too) ^.^ I was kidding and saying that I wish there was a way to blame them for it.

However, Telkom has extortionistic prices, now we're all paying extortionistic prices for a service that Telkom can't even offer us - that was my point.

okay, misread then. I was just replying mostly to the word usage.

"This is ridiculous..." and "Now I'm paying them for not even providing a service. " that both coming from Telkom, payment going to Telkom kinda gave me the more blame telkom idea.

Well atleast everyone knows my point of view :)

haha :) Don't worry, I'm used to blaming Telkom for everything, so it's all good ^.^ I just have to find a machete and the nearest Telkom employee and have natural balance restore itself.

(And before anyone calls the cops, I'm kidding, I swear!)

Okay well I think I better stop reading forums else I might miss my flight to Cape Town this afternoon :D So no time to call police on ya ;)

Is it just us, or has it gotten a bit better? Perhaps that side of the world are off work now.

Yeah, it's better, I think they rerouted the traffic at last. www.speedtest.net shows muuuuuuch better results too. Earlier it was showing download from New York at 19kbps, now it's showing 430... so I'm definitely smiling :P
