Vodacom and MTN criticise proposed data bundle rules

Network operators have identified multiple issues with the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa's (Icasa) proposed new rules governing data, voice, and SMS bundles.

They have argued that Icasa's proposed intervention could have anti-competitive side effects and that some of the amendments were outside the regulator's powers.

If I buy something and dont use it, it doesnt disappear after 30 days.
Data should be the same.

Now here you see the true face of the our service providers. Pure greed and panic at the idea that their victims will no longer be there for them to steal from. Expiring data and airtime is nothing more then pure greed.

This was the intention with the previous interventions already. It's just that the major providers quickly identified the loopholes (and will do so again).

Bread expired, data does not.

Its pure theft, eg. Cell C only plan to pay Voda and MTN for capacity people will use and not what they PAID FOR.

The entire model stinks.

Ah well, they will complain like they did with the out-of-bundle opt in measures.

At the end of the day, I ASA will implement this. They can go to hell, the greedy bastards.

Next price hike extortion incoming soon to a provider near you. Ironically there has been any data package changes in the last 3 years, MTN might have added "uncapped" but has since nerfed the hell out of it.Instead of a downward trend in price and upward trend in size. Size has stayed the same but prices has been increasing drastically.... Go figure....

I learned recently with MTN that they made a rule if you load under 25 rands airtime it expires in two weeks.
Fkn slimy bastards, they snuck that rule in without any notification or heads up and I've probably lost a few R100 over the last year with this bs.

I've been saying it. Networks pay for capacity but sell usage. It's a model that can't work and creates a problem for themselves. I also don't see how a secondary market is bad. In all cases secondary markets for products have created more business and better value.

No. What!?

That’s theft, not expiry.

I thought we were done with airtime windows for over 25 years already.
