Network Problem

Hi

I have 2 wireless Laptops a hp and a acer, They connect wirelessly though a windows xp pro desktop computer, A d-link wireless access point is used.

I have set desktop to 192.168.0.1 , 255.255.255.0 Gateway to 192.168.0.1 as it is the pc with the shared internet connection.

I have set my acer laptop to 192.168.0.5 255.255.255.0. Gateway to 192.168.0.1

everything works 100% i can print and surf the net.

MY HP laptop 192.168.0.9, 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.0.1
my laptop connects to my D-Link access point. However i am unable to ping the Desktop, connect to the net or anything else, i cannot even ping my acer.

I have set my workgroups to "workgroup" still nothing

i have gone nuts trying to figure it out.

it does not seem that my wireless card is bugged as it can locate other networks.

I am going crazy,

pls help
 
gateway, are you refering to the interent connection on the desktop, i cannot evn browse the network, i cann see other networks and connect to them, I connect to this wireless network, not problem, but if i try to run -> \\192.168.0.1
it tries to connect it takes a long time to find it. but if i unplug the AP it tells me cannot find the address

change the gateway setting in your network on the desktop to 0:0:0:0

Yup, you don't need to specify a gateway on the machine that acts as the gateway directly connected to the internet is what they mean ;)
 
To little info btw, could you give a bit more?

1. Are both laptops using the same AP?
2. Can any one of the laptops ping the desktop via the AP?
3. Are both laptops using the same type wireless adapter? and
4. Are the laptops using the same connection software to connect via the adapters
5. what makes are the adapters or are the internal? in which case
6. could you specify model numbers?
7. what OS is on each computer and which service packs
