Hi people.

Does anyone know if there is an app/method to get proxy capabilities working on my Android Device.

I go to this coffee shop quite often and they let you use a pre-made user account and login to surf the web (through WiFi ofc) now I have not been able to do this with my phone since neither of the available browsers on android have settings for proxy servers

the proxy addr is something like "www.somecoffeeshop.co.za" port 8080

and they supply you with some arbitrary alphanumeric username and pass auth login.

would be cool if i could burn some "free" data at this place

In the wi-fi settings, press the menu key and choose "advanced settings". Might vary depending on your device. My Galaxy S has proxy settings.

I use transparent proxy on XDA. The last release (3.08 beta) works great for me when I am at work!

In the wi-fi settings, press the menu key and choose "advanced settings". Might vary depending on your device. My Galaxy S has proxy settings.

Mine has the proxy settings too, but it does not have authentication inputs provided, and the phone never asks for it so nothing happens when I try using the internet. The link above works 100% for me.

It's not in the browser settings, it's in the phone settings, so all phone programs use it. I've heard of the setting not being on some phones but it's definitely in the stock Android..

I like to use all my internet apps through the proxy, which TransparentProxy does for me (no hassles), was just trying to help CrazYmonkeY159.

My Desire HD doesnt have, was kinda looking for a solution that doesnt require root, oh well..

ah... that sucks man, root is the way to go :)
