Can anybody help???

What would be the least expensive (for the client) method in extracting payment (especially with prepaid) using mobile technology? I'm looking at the low income market here and providing services to them. The problem is that revenue share (e.g. with premium rated sms) makes products unaffordable (say if we we wanted to pay our insurance premiums from our prepaid balance), OBS is little better way. Are there better alternatives? Creative responses welcome

Cheers! :)

What are you trying to do exactly? Trying to get people to pay for stuff by using their Prepaid Airtime?

I think he means those 304000 type numbers (R5 per sms etc).
Network share means the portion the operator retains as their profit.
On a R2 SMS (R1 is ludicrous), Vodacom would get R0.80 and you would get R1.20 and so forth.
Remember, that "decency" dictates you reply to the person with a confirmation SMS, so another 20c-50c or so spent.
So, from R2, you would make 70c.
I had the list once, but google "click a tell" (they are expensive) for a list if you need.

Our company has also investigated this line - so I too would appreciate other ideas.

Yes. Seeing as more people have access and use prepaid airtime than they do bank accounts, mobile technology could be the answer to providing futher financial access to the low income market, even the bottom of the pyramid so to speak. However, we cant expect the poor to be paying an arm and a leg (as would be the case if one were to use say premium rated SMSs as the collection medium) for such services.

Ideas???

PS. I'd love to know why with premium rated SMS that their is revenue share and not just a cost e.g. if it costs R1 for Vodacom to do the transaction then that is their cost, why should it be any different for a R2 premium rated sms or a R50??? It seems to me that they do it because they can! Or am I wrong and do their costs increase with increased premium rated SMSs??? I wonder
