We are looking at redoing the server room for our office: So I have gotten a few quotes for flooring - the cheapest I could get was something like R 1000/m2.

Anybody else gone through something similar recently? Floor will be lifted to allow cabling and the like, about 1" or so, and obviously anti-static and the like.

Just feels like R 1000 / m2 is a bit on the high side, so would like to know other opinions.

Thanks !

How much for the raw materials? The actual installation is not that complicated.

We are in the process of re-doing a couple of our data centres, and when taking all the requirements into consideration, i.e. raised flooring, moisture detection, ventalation, power reticulation with redundancy, under-floor fire suppression (if that's a requirement), etc. it comes to about R1000- / m2.

It might not be that expensive to actually get component x, y, and z, but to have it properly fitted, etc. could be a challenge.

I suggest give InterConnect a call, you can drop me a PM if you want details. They do all our floors. Not the cheapest, but they do good work and are approved with all sorts of important credentials and certifications.

And as a personal appeal, you shouldn't skimp on you data centre infrastructure...

Not sure, tbh: We just received an all inclusive quote, working out to the +/- 1000 / sqm.

A big part of the value will be in the material though: it's 1.5mm high pressure laminate finish with all the goodies.

You can contact Telstra floors on 0823343600. They manufacture all the companents and tiles and I think that they will be able to supply you the material to install the floors.

Is that for the hollow aluminium/metal ones filled with concrete (don't ever get a finger caught in there :D ) and laminate on top?
