hi,

I've set up my wireless network. Currently I have one Access Point, and another Access Point in "Client-mode".

Both devices' SSIDs are hidden, and the one device acting as the Access Point has MAC filtering on, to only allow the other device.

Is this security enough? Or do I need encryption also? Does encryption have any disadvantages in terms of speed, and stability of the connection?

Secondly I'm thinking of going the WDS route, and from what I understand, only WEP encyption is supported then.

The current security is def not enough. It would take about 5 minutes to hack. I would go for WPA or WPA2 if suppoted

Do you know if WPA is supported in WDS mode? I think not... Will give WEP a try.
