Greetings all,

I want to setup a network as follows, and will appreciate some input from the experts to tell me if it's possible:

1 x Wireless Router
1 x Laptop - accessing router via WiFi connection
1 x Desktop PC - accessing router via ethernet cable

I want the laptop and PC to be able to access each other's files.

Is this possible, or will I need more hardware?

Thanks

No, that's all you need.

1) Enable security on your wi-fi connection
2) Plug everything in.
3) Run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers, and choose to share files... Choose the same workgroup for simplicity.

This will go a lot easier if you are running XP on both computers. If one or both of them are running Vista it is a little bit more frustrating, but can be done.

Depending on the router you purchase you can also connect the following:

- ADSL Internet
- 3G Data Card (Some routers provide a failover if your ADSL goes down)
- SIP Voip Phone in one port and you also have a landline

Shot, thanks man - didn't realise it's that simple! Unfortunately I have one machine running on Vista, so sharing was a bit of an headache, but getting there ;)
