Network Switch

I dug it out so it's ready and waiting for you - you also need to ensure that your ethernet cables are at least Cat5e
Top man.

I had a 8 port gigabit D-Link switch (all plastic with power saving capabilities) that I bought in the UK like 8-9 years ago and was using it like a slave switch to my Ubiquiti switch. After some loadshedding in the past few months, it finally gave up the ghost (it was intermittent fail at least twice before). Since that switch ran all my iOT devices, popped up the road to Incredible (I was desperate) but bought another D-Link 8 port for I think around R350 (i thought it was cheap). But haven't dumped my old one ... certain it will work if I ever run into issues with the new one.

But in other news: Work is moving offices soon. If I am still here, I am gonna buy one of the HP 48 port POE switches since the new place will have 'meraki'. The HP should run my entire house. We paid about R42K each (ex VAT) if I remember correctly when we bought them in 2015/2016. That price was heavily negotiated! I will offer about R1K for it :)

I picked up a Huawei 24 port fully managed PoE a while back for R1200. Works like a bomb but it's bloody noisy and only using 7 of the ports.

Just today I managed to get a Unifi 8 port for a good price - swapped it around and very happy cos I can now manage it via the same console as the AP's. It's fanless so no noise either.
