Hi

I`m looking for a router to manage internet usage by my tenants, atm some1 is downloading tonnes of stuff via p2p so I wanna put caps on. Can any1 recommend a nice easy to use router that can do this? I used a mikrotik RB750 before, but it seems to have died and was quite a hassle setting up. Any suggestions?

Or possibly a place that can preconfigure the router for me? Its for about 20 users.

I have a solution that I use for my clients and it works very well.

I get a daily, weekly, monthly report emailed to me which shows who the data users are. The product is called Untangle.

If you are in Cape Town, PM me your details if you would like me to provide a turnkey solution.

Why a CAP? Why not just block P2P over specific times?

Thx, just had a look at Untangle, looks quite nice, just expensive though? Entry level for R5000+? I`m in pretoria unfortunately.

This seems more difficult to do than caps and I have received 4 copyright warnings from my isp this month already after which they block the connection every time, the tenants are apparently not smart enough to pirate properly.

Sorry for going off-topic...but I must say, your ISP sucks. I get about 150GB of bandwidth a month (mostly torrents) on my 1Mbit account and my ISP hasn't sent me 1 copyright infringement warning. MWEB FTW!

The free version of software is quite adequate and does the job well. I doubt you will have to buy any of the options. The hardware you provide yourself.

Cool thx :) i`l download it and give it a go, should have a old pc around somewhere.

BrokenLink, check if its not just the MikroTik's PSU that died.
A friend of mine's RB750's PSU died and he just replaced it and then it worked again.

My dad's RB750 is still running strong... even after a few years.
