I got my new laptop and want to transfer my music on to it from my PC, so I got a cross-over cable and now the thing says I have limited to no connection, so what must I do now

plug it in :p

Check and make sure that's it's a cross-over. Look at the transparent plugs and if the little wires are all arranged in the way (colour wise) it's not a cross over.

limited or no connnectivity generally means you wont be able to share the internet but data transer should work fine

ive had so many network reporting this problem that i dont use automatic windows settings rather use what webhost suggested IP address

but you should be able to transfer data across

Yeah, it has to be your IP addresses. If you're using a crossover connection, do the following on both PC's:

Start -> Setting/Controle Panel -> Network Connections -> Right Click LAN icon and click Properties. Click Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click properties.

Change IP addresses so that they are both in the same range, but are diffrent ie. one should be 192.168.0.1 and the other 192.168.0.2.

Thats it! :D
