Hi Guys,

I am aware that several threads have been started about this topic, but to be honest, I just can't take it anymore

My connection drops constantly, and sometimes just refuses to connect again for about 15mins. I have checked all filters on my line and there are no problems and I have even plugged out all telephones etc, except my router and the problem persist and persists and persists

I have a 4mb ADSL line which ran perfectly fine for about 8 months, then this problem started occuring and has now got to a level where I don't even get 1 minute of constant connection. The line sounds fine over the phone, and only "scratches" or has interference when its raining.

If I run a DSL Diagnostic on my router the results are:

attenuation downstream: 25.5 db
noise margin downstream: 9.5 db
attenuation upstream: 31.5 db
noise margin upstream: 13.0 db

^please note that it took several attempts to get this info as the line just kept losing "sync" and the line dropped about 8 times through the duration of typing this message

We have tried downgrading the line to 2mb as well as 1mb and even 512k, but the problem still continued.

I am really sorry if I'm a bit "out of line" when I type this message, but this has become so frustrating that I just wanna break my router in half and anything else within the vicinity.

Telkom have run outta ideas on how to fix the problem and now I ask on my knees :o Is there anyway to fix this problem at ALL!?

I have been through 3 routers through this entire event.
Namely:

The Marconi Premium Combo
The Mega 100WR
and currently the Telkom 5100

:(:(:(

Have you maybe tried with different accounts Peppercorns? EG Saix and IS?

ask telkom to test your line with a SUNRISE SUNSET ADSL tester (black unit) / dynatel 965p tester (yellow unit).

that gives them ALOT of detail on what the fault is - and WHERE it is.

does your line go above ground - like for example 500m-1km aircable , as this tends to be where alot of the problems are created/solved.

I've also had a significant number of disconnects over the past 24 hours, regardless of whether I use IS based or SAIX based ISP accounts.

tech did come out by me and reckoned i had a lot of errors on the line (packet loss) ... used the black tester ... (e to the power 3) ... the only solution might be to change the cable

My line does infact go above ground, it runs through my yard and through a bunch of trees to the neighbour's where there is a telephone pole. From there it would seem it goes underground, but I cant be sure.

When I get a chance, I will try phone telkom out again and ask them to do this test with a Sunrise/Sunset ADSL tester.

Hopefully I can get this resolved soon :(

sync has got nothing to do with isp accounts.

a proper sync is required for an ISP account to work...and that is poster's problem
Hehe whoops my apologies, I admittedly didn't read the post thoroughly.

I had a similar issue last month, so far it's ok this month. But mine only occurred when using a Webafrica Shaped Account, the Unshaped was fine as was my Telkominternet Shaped account.

I don't know how an ISP account could ever let your line drop though? But it seemed like that was happening.
