new 384 connection/marconi problems. HELP!

hi,

i am having numerous problems with my new dsl 384 connection/marconi 4 port router (new model).

1) i have an intermittent connection with erratic speeds, some as high as 60kbps, most as low as 5kbps. most sites load at less than 5kbps. is this normal?

2) i cannot access my router's ip address - 10.0.0.2 . what the heck?

3) some sites don't load, so i have to load the address 2 - 3 times for the page to eventually load.

4) irc servers and msn messenger constantly disconnect.

any help would be greatly appreciated..

PostmanPot, please get something that actually works.
Maybe a Netgear or a linksys? (there are others)

I have enough customers where I threw out these telkom routers.

If you do a bit of shopping you'll find "other" routers can even be bought cheaper than the Marconi ones.

I'm in for these problems then too..... My mom refused to get anything other then the Marconi... uneducated idiot. After I showed her all the threads on it, she insisted that it'll be fine.. *sigh*

Retnox.. how i'd love to get a new router. however, that is not possible at this point in time.

PostmanPot, call Telskom and ask them to do a line test - how new is your area, ie is it fairly established or a newish area?

Also sell the Marconi ASAP, or at best, use it as a doorstop.

I have a freind with a Marconi Router.
What is the default User and Password?
We were trying to get into his Router the other day, but he has no Booklet with it and we wanted to check something.
Anyone know?

Edit. Seems even the above IP is wrong as well.
Are some of these Marconi Routers just plain, "modems", as I am thinking this one has no PPPoe onboard.

BTTB: sup. my router is infact magically not a macaroni. it's telkom's new billion 5100 series. as far as i know, all telkom routers are 10.0.0.2 by default. username is admin, pass is admin (sometimes administrator). good luck!
