New ADSL Line

Hi All,

Just got my ADSL line installed.

Not Incredibly impressed to ... DL @ 12-17kbs (384 package from US)

The thing I noticed that on my modem, when connected it says ..

Data Rate Down: 2048 UP: 512 kbps

So that means that telskum HAS the ability to give us more ...

you said no DLSAM port for you, then u said you pestered them continuosly till they caved in.

like I said .. I called, and just didn't taek no for an answer, I physically just hung up the phone, then called the same number till I got to an operator who told me that there is something I could try, then I tried that and callned the next guy and so on ... so basically I was being difficult ... Iit took about 5 days with about 10-15 calls to diffrent telkom pple daily

Okay thanks, i didn't see a post about the pestering, only about being out of ports.
I think i should do the same, except my situation is they say i am too far away from my exchange. I got in my car and drove it, 2.9 km's, including a 600m stretch that runs perpendicular to the actual direction, so effectively 2.3kms. I know that it is unlikely that Telscum have their wires following the road exactly and may veer away from time to time, but i doubt they would have kilometers of wasted wire.

I guess i'll have to start phoning.

My experience with Home384 is pretty good so far. 38KB/s download from Europe, 36KB/s from US. During biz hours it is a bit slower +/-30KB/s, but not so bad that it bugs me much.
But hey, I had MyWireloss - I'm easily satisfied!

I'm about to begin the painful process of getting ADSL !

I'll give my opinions on their service when it's done !
